The contribution consists of two parts. Starting from the provenance evidence, the first part studies the history of two volumes, which belonged to the painter Bartolomeo Passerotti, from the Sixteenth to the Nineteenth century; the second part examines the traces (hatchings, recall signs and notes) that Bartolomeo Passerotti left on his books in order to understand how he used them for his profession as a painter.
