The profound upsetting in the traditional expressive forms provoked by new technologies is the outcome of a project of convergence of art and science; this was already foreboded by some theoretical proposals of the Romantic Age and by the experimental issues of the Futurist Avant-Garde. From this perspective, the revolutionary Futurist achievements which involved the artistic and literary communication are herewith taken into account.
This path deals with the transformation of the idea of writing and reading, the important role of typography, the subverting of the traditional functions of text and paratext, and the experimentations related to material supports. These elements are the immediate forerunners of the forms of communication of the digital world and of the theories about the new media.
