The Venetian school of engraving has made an important contribution to publishing with title pages, frontispieces, portraits and various illustrations that often surprised not only the readers of the time, but also the readers of centuries to come. In this context stands out the name of Isabella Piccini (1644-1734), woman engraver and nun of the convent of Santa Croce in Venice; the paper briefly describes her biographical events and analyses some illustrations that evidence the decorative beauty of books of the 17th and 18th century.
