The essay deals with the Library in the thousand-year old Benedictine Abbey in San Pietro in Perugia. After stating the sources and the studies related to the period from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern Period, the essay examines in depth the history of the volumes belonging to the monks during the latter period; moreover, thanks to the Seventeenth Century lists included in ms. Vat.Lat. 11266 and 11286, published on the occasion of the Index Inquiry, it brings out the bibliographic and organizational structure of the book patrimony of the Abbey in Perugia.
