The article aims to introduce Traniello's paper "L'eclissi delle biblioteche nel dibattito politico italiano," which serves as an effective synthesis of the development of the organization of Italian public libraries and an analysis of the political debate that has arisen over the years. Furthermore, the paper is a testimony to the author's original approach to these themes and contains much food for thought that testifies to his civic passion. Emphasizing the importance of improving and expanding a network of efficient and accessible library services, the paper underscores the significance of this endeavor in nation-building efforts.
