The paper investigates the transformative function of libraries and information professionals within the contemporary landscape of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and generative artificial intelligence, emphasizing the significant transformations impacting both the library sector and allied fields. Specifically, the academic library is portrayed as a vibrant laboratory for active and collaborative learning, wherein the establishment of coworking environments evolves into a progressive model that fosters interdisciplinary cooperation, the collective construction of knowledge, and the cultivation of informed and responsible citizenship. The implementation of innovative instruments such as gamification and the utilization of interactive quizzes exemplify efficacious strategies designed to enhance user engagement and foster critical and conscious learning. The experience delineated, articulated through the "five steps to consciously document themselves with chatbots," exemplifies the capacity of libraries to proactively address educational requirements, advocating for an MIL that is responsive to the challenges posed by digital technology and the ethical and social ramifications that ensue.
