Between artificial intelligence and empathy: Global trends in professional development for librarians

Abstract

This article presents a reflection on some global trends in professional development for librarians, with particular reference to the role of IFLA Continuing Professional Development and Workplace Learning (CPDWL). It explores the convergence between digital transformation, artificial intelligence and the human dimension of library work, highlighting the importance of an integrated approach that combines technological skills, continuous professional learning and empathy.
